Are you happy with your broadband Internet provider? Would you switch to broadband over power lines if it was available? Well it looks like there’s an IEEE working group that has completed the main development of the standard and it has released the first draft of technical specs. That doesn’t mean you’re going to get broadband over power lines soon but it’s good to know we’re getting somewhere on this matter.

Jean-Philippe Faure, chair of IEEE P1901 Working Group said:

This is a major milestone. Main development is completed and finalization now starts through successive rounds of circulations for vote and comment.

When completed, the IEEE P1901 will offer you bandwidth speeds greater than 100Mb/s but like I said, we have no specific dates so far.
