Blackberry 8230 Pearl Cell Phone Review–A Flip Blackberry? Nice.By Steve Anderson - 01/25/2010 4:56:37 PM |
I’ve said a lot of unkind things about Blackberry phones over the last few weeks, and they’re all true–they’re heavy on the business angle. They’re not a lot of fun. They don’t come with a lot of exciting features. And they all look vaguely similar to boot.
Well, at least that last one is about to get shot in the head when I tell you about today’s cell phone, the Blackberry 8230 Pearl.
The Blackberry 8230 Pearl is a flip style phone that comes with a two megapixel camera, a battery capable of generating four hours of talk time, Blackberry Maps, the Blackberry trackball, a full QWERTY keyboard, a 3.5 mm stereo headset jack, video and audio support in numerous formats, Bluetooth connectivity, and more.
Not surprisingly, this Blackberry doesn’t offer a whole lot in the way of games and fun either, not that I could find, anyway, but there is plenty of nifty stuff here, and you’ve got to give them credit for pushing the design envelope a bit. But that trackball is still wildly oversensitive.
Still, overall, it’s a very nice phone, especially if you use it for business.
The Good
New, interesting design
Plenty of features
The Bad
Short on fun stuff
Wildly oversensitive trackball
Score: 7/10
