Verizon has won a $678.5 million contract over 10 years for their services of data and voice security service and disaster communications system for the Homeland Security. Wow that was a long phrase. AT&T came in second for the same thing and will receive a second place consolation prize worth $292 million.
Ok, now how does that actually help me? I hope no disasters hit just so we can say in awe “Verizon you saved the day with those cool disaster communication system tricks!” AT&T won’t be mentioned in the movie as it dies at the beginning like a sidekick should.
Getting back Verizon and AT&T, I hope they will put some of that money to good use for the general public too. I mean getting a contract like that will surely impact, in a positive way, their financial future as other will come to ask for similar services. In other words money will bring back more money which could be invested into 3G, 4G, better data plans, cheaper smartphones, and the list can go on…
