07 Mar 09 AT&T and Communications Workers of America Prevent Strike for Now

It seems that AT&T’s employees won’t go to strike for now. AT&T and the Communications Workers of America have reached a tentative agreement for the 20,000 unionized workers that have been in contract negotiations. The agreement has to be submitted for approval by a ratification vote from the CWA group members before we can assure you that there’s not going to be a strike soon. We’ll keep tabs on this one as I imagine an AT&T strike is not exactly going to make your day.

Not REALLY! Today there was discussion surrounding this topic internally.

It appears internally they are preparing for a major strike and defining mandatory fill-in requirements from their other tech employees in the event the strike does occur to maintain business operations.

Workers are keeping their option to strike open.
