Asustek Will Ship 60% of Eee PCs With Windows OS
Fans of the old Asus Eee PC with Linux OS might get saddened by this news. However, since majority of PC owners use Windows operating systems, Asustek, of course, recognizes the potential for the market and decides to jump in. According the company, 60% of this year's Eee PC shipments will run on Windows OS. While the Linux-based original Eee PC is priced as low as US$200, the ones equipped with Windows OS will sell for around $390 to $400, presumably because of the added storage space to accommodate the OS requirements.
As JP Morgan analyst, Alvin Kwock, said:
"A Windows Eee PC is more attractive to buyers because people are just not used to using Linux-based computers."
