Asian PC Makers to Invade the U.S. Market
The U.S. pc market may be mature and already saturated but that did not deter Asian PC makers Lenovo Group, Acer and Asustek Computer to expand in this very competitive territory.
According to Reuters, the strategy is not to compete head-on against established power players such as HP, Dell, and Apple. Rather, the attack area is through “pocket-sized, full-featured notebooks or stylish high-end machines with advanced features”.
Of course, there is no better venue for Lenovo and others to announce such declaration of war than the upcoming International CES. Even though this Chinese manufacturer acquired the IBM PC business in 2005, all marketing efforts are not directed to American consumers. Now, the whole playing field is about to change.
What these companies will offer in the upcoming CES remains a big mystery. For sure, an entry level product will not stand a chance so it must be something more advanced and stylish than what is already available.
Today, Asian computer manufacturers have a strong edge when it comes to innovative and advanced notebooks since players like Dell practically focused on the desktop and servers. That is not to say this is a one-sided showdown, American players also offer innovative products to stay afloat.
