Apple’s iPhone Reaches Second Place in US Mobile SalesBy Chris - 10/07/2008 9:07:22 AM |

Is Apple taking over the mobile market in the USA? We’ve just seen yesterday how Apple has already managed to manufacture and ship 10 million handsets this year and by the end of 2008 the company should surpass it’s goal. And today we find out that the iPhone has reached the second place in US mobile sales.
NPD, the market research company, reports that only the RAZR V3 from Motorola is surpassing the iPhone for now. Apple’s phone was the number one in sales from June to August surpassing the Curve, the Pearl and the Palm Centro.
30% of Apple’s customers during this time have switched from other carriers to AT&T. Almost half of those switching, 47% came to AT&T from Verzion Wireless while 24% switched from T-Mobile, and 19% from Sprint.
I’ll be curios how many people switch from AT&T back to Verizon and T-Mobile in order to get the Storm and the G1.
