Apple to Use Flash in New Mini-Notebooks
According an analyst at American Technology Research, Apple Computer will possibly use NAND flash memory in their notebook computers sometime later this year. In addition Apple is supposedly working on sub-notebook computers that will flash memory technology also. Why would Apple make such a move? Flash memory seems to be a good move for the company for its many benefits. Flash memory is lighter, consumes less space, provides quicker computer boot-up times and uses less power than standard hard-disk drives. Flash memory also provides greater protection to precious data, since is less susceptible to damage. Most likely it will be a little more expensive for flash hard-drive computers, but with the continuous decrease in flash memory prices it might not cost too much more. Maybe soon the large bulky hard disk drives will be a thing of the past?
