What are you playing your music with? Any kind of iPod? Or are you one of the only two million Zune players sold to date?
As the iPod became more and more popular and Apple sold millions and millions of variants of this attractive product, third party developers became interested in manufacturing products which will improve your iPop experience. Apple said ok and offered their support for any of those products by adding their licensing system “18 Sep 2006 … If you love your iPod and can’t do without it then do take a look at the new myvu Made for iPod. No it’s not a new pair of speakers …”
This was both profitable for Apple which collected royalties off every product they endorsed and for the manufacturers which sales skyrocketed after adding this simple three words, “Made for iPodâ€.
Apple is now going to court against three products developed by Atico, the AM/FM Portable Boom Box, AM/FM Alarm Clock Radio, and Portable Speakers, all for iPods. Apple claims Atico has failed to license its use for docking design for the speakers which in turn prevented Apple from getting any money from their trademark. Apple will go to trial and they are most likely to win.
I guess this can happen if you go around suggesting and endorsement by Apple which in fact this doesn’t exist. I wonder what Atico will have to pay to Apple in damages. Or are they going to settle this before getting to a jury trial?
