21 Dec 09 Apple pushes out 27-inch iMac firmware update
Some of you who purchased one of Apple’s brand new 27-inch iMacs a may have noticed that the screen flickers for seemingly no reason. Well, turns out that wasn’t a hardware issue but instead a software issue that Apple hopes to fix. And fix it they have.
Apple has today released a firmware update that is supposed to fix the flickering screen issue.

I’ve received 2 faulty 27″ iMac’s since November 2009. I noticed the flickering on the first machine almost immediately and ordered a replacement. And the replacement turned up with exactly the same problem. I installed this Firmware update and it did absolutely nothing to remedy the problem. And I’m still having constant flickering and screen going black. I’m now waiting on a third machine. So fingers crossed it won’t flicker or I’ll have to return it for a full refund. Not going to try for a 4th machine!
