Apple Introduces New Headphones With Mic for New iPods

Here’s something I wasn’t exactly waiting for at today’s “Let’s Rock” event. Besides all the iPods that we’ve seen, besides the new iTunes 8.0, besides the iPhone/iPod touch 2.1 firmware, Apple has introduced a new feature to the iPod. Voice recording. That’s something I would have wanted more than once in the past.

Audio input will be possible through the headphone jack. The iPhone has it, and starting today the new iPods will have it too. Which means the new iPods will get the new headphones they deserve. The new headphones with integrated microphone will let you record audio as simple as that. An iPod in you pocket will turn that cheap conversation with your boss into a powerful ally in court.

Besides the regular iPhone headphones which cost just $29, Apple has another offer for us. At $79 you will get a pair of headphones with microphone, independent woofer and tweeter drivers. It will have volume controls too so they would come in handy.
