Remember when everyone was talking about Palm Pre’s amazing capability of iTunes syncing? Well it looks like Apple noticed that too and wasn’t too fond of it. Now that both the iPhone 3G S and the Pre are out, Apple is starting a little fire. Here’s what an Apple note titled “About unsupported third-party digital media players”:

Apple does not provide support for, or test for compatibility with, non-Apple digital media players and, because software changes over time, newer versions of Apple’s iTunes software may no longer provide syncing functionality with non-Apple digital media players.

Is this how Apple is declaring war on Palm? Do we need all those innocent media player bystanders to suffer too? What’s the next note going to talk about? Multitouch maybe?

And how will Apple block the Pre to actually syncing to iTunes? The Pre acts as an iPod so in order to block it from syncing Apple should be ready to do more than simply updating software from time to time.
