Since everyone has their trusted leak source when it comes to Apple products in general and the 3G iPhone in particular, I am calling out for anyone out there to be my personal Apple source. If you have good photoshop skills you can always send me leaked iPhone photos. If you lack the graphic touch but you are good with technical specs and your imagination runs wild then you can send over “exclusive” iPhone firmware updates and upcoming releases details.
I am not saying that I don’t trust all those rumors coming out of the closet 2 days before Steve Jobs revealing keynote but I tend to be as careful as I can when spreading false hopes rumors.
Getting back to this leaked firmware, we are offered various details which, although believable, might prove to be wrong. The Infineon S-GOLD3 chip hints connection availability for UMTS-3G but also HSDPA-3G. Also we are to assume it will connect to WCDMA networks in order for the iPhone to work with Japan’s Softbank.
Skyworks chips, the 77413, 77414, and 77427, are to get that 3G signal from various frequencies including AT&T’s 850MHz band.
As for the much debated GPS option, there are links to Global Locate Library software for a better, more accurate GPS experience.
Take a look for yourself:

- Skyworks 77427 chip - UMTS / HSDPA tx 1900MHz, rx 2100MHz
- Skyworks 77414 chip - UMTS / HSDPA 1900MHz
- Skyworks 77413 chip - UMTS / HSDPA 850MHz
- Internal build model number: n82ap
- UMTS Power Saving option - on or off
- Hooks for Global Locate Library (GLL), software that handles A-GPS related commands for the host processor
