Antennagate Response Part 3: RIM

By Mark Rollins - 07/18/2010 7:27:35 PM

This is the third (and probably not last) in a series of reports from major cellphone companies in response to the Apple Press Conference last Friday addressing the antenna problem. Next up, RIM.

RIM had a lot to say about Jobs’ statement about cellular phone antennae. They went so far to call Apple’s situation a “self-made debacle”, and you can check out my Source for the full tirade. This may be a bit of a spoiler alert, but here is how it ends:

One thing is for certain, RIM’s customers don’t need to use a case for their BlackBerry smartphone to maintain proper connectivity. Apple clearly made certain design decisions and it should take responsibility for these decisions rather than trying to draw RIM and others into a situation that relates specifically to Apple.

I can only hope that this concludes our series. You can read the responses from Nokia and HTC.
