It seems the problem was a bit more widespread than we anticipated — Following a recent lawsuit brought before Amazon.com regarding the Kindle 2′s screens being prone to cracking, the company has released a press release stating that they will in fact replace cracked screens absolutely free.
If you are familiar with Amazon’s policy, they previously charged a $200 fee for the same repair. Perhaps Apple can learn a thing or two from Amazon.3
