Aluminum Notebook Case Review–Sweet Gunmetal Hardware

By Steve Anderson - 07/29/2010 12:01:28 AM

I love it when the folks out at Geeks.com send me stuff.  Today they sent part of their line of cheap laptop cases, the Aluminum Notebook Case, and it’s a downright beauty.

We’ve covered more than a few laptop bags before, featuring just about every size and description, from big leather monsters to bags sufficient to carry entire networks around to even tiny models that can barely hold a netbook.  And the Aluminum Notebook Case might well put them all to shame.

It’s pretty basic, I admit–it’s got room sufficient for a nineteen inch laptop, with a net pocket for pens and the like, an aluminum exterior and padded foam interior with a combination lock.  And that pretty much sums up the entire spec sheet.

But what the spec sheet can never describe is the sheer cool factor involved with this thing.  Sure, it’ll carry your laptop around nicely, not to mention safely with that whole padded interior bit.  But it’ll also do so with maximum bonus points for sheer style, because this is a smooth metal briefcase.

It’s possibly heavy enough to bludgeon intruders (not that I tried to, but it was hefty enough), and it looks absolutely amazing.  There aren’t any real bells or whistles here–it’s basically just a hunk of machined aluminum, but it still looks great.  And that’s all you really need.

The Good

Huge style bonus

Plenty of room for your laptop

Combination lock

The Bad

Not much room for extras

No real bells or whistles

Score 8 / 10
