Alpine iDA-X001 Dedicated iPod Receiver, First Head Unit Designed With Input From Apple

If you suffer from separation anxiety every-time you have to leave your iPod behind, then check out the iDA-X001 by Alpine Electronics. This little baby promises an unadulterated iPod experience as the head unit lacks a CD slot and includes only one built-in audio source, an AM/FM tuner and a dedicated USB. It carries the "Made for iPod" seal and has been equipped with a color 320 x 240 pixel TFT screen that displays artist, album and track information, and even album art from the iPod.

Since it uses USB instead of an adapter, expect faster data transfers and full digital audio using a 24-bit Burr Brown DAC and has a built-in 18 Watt x 4 amplifier. Users stuck with earlier Gen. of iPods needn't fret as the iDA-X001 also retains Alpine’s Full Speed for iPod Connection capabilities through the KCE-422i. Hook it up to your XM® or SIRIUS® Satellite Radio, HD Radio etc and enjoy its Bluetooth capabilities too. The iDA-X001 will be available in April at authorized Alpine dealers for $450 (SRI) and includes iPod dock/USB adapter and a 2-meter (maximum length) USB cable.
