Motorola handset built for social connectivity brings convenience and full music experience

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Alltel Wireless, America’s largest wireless network, and Motorola have found the perfect way to keep customers connected to their social ‘circle.’ The Motorola Hint, a vertical slider phone that keeps users in touch, will be available on November 28th in Alltel retail stores and at alltel.com.

The innovative slider design of the Motorola Hint includes a full QWERTY keyboard with dedicated keys for the 2 MP camera, MP3 player and Web access. The Motorola Hint puts the most frequently used features on the main screen giving easy access to e-mail, voicemail and messaging – letting users spend less time scrolling through menus and more time communicating with their family and friends. Even with a large 2.5” display screen, the compact 4.23 oz handset can easily slip into a pocket or purse.

“Wireless customers communicate in so many different ways, and they want their cell phones to be a portal to their social networks and the Internet,” said Brian Ullem, vice president of device strategy at Alltel Wireless. “The Motorola Hint gives them a fun and sophisticated way to stay in touch with the people who matter most.”

Preloaded with popular applications such as Alltel Navigation powered by Telenav, XM Radio Mobile and Aricent Celltop, the Motorola Hint gives users a complete mobile experience. Threaded messaging keeps users organized while the video capture and playback helps them stay creative. The phone also comes equipped with Bluetooth capabilities, advanced voice recognition dialing, a USB high speed port and 3.5 mm headset jack.

Music lovers will enjoy the powerful and versatile Motorola Hint, which features external music keys that allow for easy playback control and browsing of song files. The phone also features high speed EVDO internet compatibility and a microSD removable memory slot that can hold up to 8 GB – perfect for fast song downloads and file storage.

Beginning on November 28th, Alltel Wireless will be offering customers the Motorola Hint for $99.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate. This discounted price is for new customers on two-year service agreements, as well as existing eligible customers on qualifying rate plans.

Alltel Wireless continues to provide choice and flexibility to the customer’s wireless experience with its exclusive “My Circle” feature, giving customers unlimited calling to and from any five, 10 or 20 numbers on any network. This phone is gay! Do NOT get it.. It shuts off ALL the time. It literally takes 10 minutes to delete your messages

  4. |

It will mess up eventually and just not send you your messages anymore. Your phone will go off saying that you have a message, but it wont say who the sender was. Then when you click on it there is NO message even though somebody sent it. Alltel isnt very helpful with these problems either. They pretty much say suck it up and get over it. Another thing. You cannot customize your vibrate. It vibrates forever. When you recieve a call and you recieving a text at the same time you cannot answer the call. Well it takes quite a while. This phone is slow. This phone needs some more work. It needs a lot as a matter of fact. Its going to be the next scoop if they dont start fixing things. Basically this phone is a waste of money!

I agree that it needs some work done. I guess thats why they have a $100 rebate right now .. basically free phone. I don’t like that you can’t customize it totally and the browser really stinks. but I don’t use it for internet so no biggie there.

It does shut off a lot , i was told that it would do that if my software wasn’t updated so I need to take it into the store and have them do that and if it didn’t fix it they would replace the phone.

I try to delete all my messages and restart my phone at night so its not slow, otherwise it IS super slow.
every phone has its little quirks – this one is 10x better than another phone that I tried so really I can’t complain, I love the photos it takes and i like my qwerty keyboard. the keys are a lil small but like most things it just takes getting used to.

most importantly the phone calls are clear and I can see all of the txt conversations when I am txting.

I’ve had this phone for almost a year and i like it. the only other option was to get a smartphone and I don’t have a plan sooo this is the phone for me.

oops I did forget to mention that the battery on this thing lasts forever, even when my battery is LOW I am still able to use the phone for awhile (in emergancy situations when I am away from car/home charger) this has been wonderful.
I use my phone a lot and am able to go 2 days w/out charging it. my other LG phone would have to be charged 2x a day!!!

  11. |

Omg PLEASEEEEEEE LISTEN TO US when we say this phone shuts off randomly! its not some minor thing….it’ll piss you off TONSSS after the first couple of months…….i like the html browser….its a lot better than those crapp wap ones with no pictures or coloring/layout. but OMG im so pissed thja every-other-time i send a txt it shuts off after saying mssage sent! and the reg. messages go threw, but when it shuts off after sending a mms message it DOESNT GO THREW! you have to send it again!! its such a freaking pain! i have liek 700+ messages in my outbo because IT WONT LET ME DELETE THEM! IT SHUTS OFF AND RESTARTS!!

    this phone is a 6/10
decent browser, great battery life, and great speaker. but NO CUSTOMISING, IT TURNS OFF ALLLLLL THE TIME, AND THEIR IS NO FLASH FOR THE CAMERA! Oh and i almost forgot, THE DIGITAL CAM WORKS WHEN IT WANTS TO! If you can spare a little more money DO and GET A BETTER PHONE! It’ll be worth it….i havent even had this a year and im already shopping for a new phone/company!

  12. |

To elaborate on the digital cam thing…..when you take a picture and save it…..when you go to your galley itll sometimes say “format error” amd not show it! but sometimes it willaq At first i thought it was a resolution thing, but it’s not! IT DOES THIS ON ALL THE RESOLUTIONS RANDOMLY! Such a freakin pain. And dont get conned by some salesman in a store who says u jusy need to update your software thats TOTAL BULLSH*T! They’ll say anything to get you service/money……

If I could get my razr reactivated, I would do so, but it kept freezing. For as for the Hint, I love the phone for the most part except for…it shuts off randomly, you can’t customize much at all, the camera doesn’t always work, doesn’t always receive calls and doesn’t receive texts all the time. I was in a class the other day at college and felt my phone vibrate once [thinking my memory was 80% full], after class I walked to the hallway, pulled my phone out of my pocket and found out my phone shut off right when I got the text. I pressed the power button to turn the phone back on but it didn’t turn back on. I literally had to take the battery out before it turned back on. Also, I was on the phone one day. Right after I hung up, the phone shut off. For customization, you can customize your banner and the icons on the right side of the screen. Another thing is that you can have personal ringer for contacts, but they only work for when the person calls you [with the razr, the person ringers worked for calls and texts]. On another note, the camera takes some a.m.a.z.i.n.g. pictures, however, sometimes when you go to take a picture it’ll say “Unable to capture image”. Something else is that the calls don’t always go through. There’s been times before when my parents tried to call me but I just get a voicemail instead because the call didn’t come through. As for texting, I like the keyboard, but the texts aren’t always received right away. This has happened a few times to where it says I have 2 texts, but I only receive one and may not receive the other text until 3 days later. Lastly, lately my internet on the phone has been terrible, before it was very fast, but the past couple days I have decided that dial up internet is faster.
Good things about the phone though is that it takes great pictures, I like the keyboard, it holds quite a few texts both inbox and outbox, and the battery life is great.
