Rumor has it Acer is planning a 3D laptop. According to Campbell Kan, VP of Acer’s mobile computing business unit, the 15.6-inch Aspire 3D notebook should arrive at the end of October 2009 and necessitate stereoscopic glasses in order for the 3D effect to be captured.
Initial applications for the visual technology will include 3D gaming and movies, and Acer will preinstall software that, it claims, is able to take 2D footage and convert it into 3D. The hardware has been collectively developed with Wistron, although beyond that Acer have given no indication as to whether it will use NVIDIA’s system.
