Acer 5920 and 4710 Notebook PCs

Acer launched two new consumer notebook computers today, the Aspire 5920 (previosily mentioned here) and 4710, both of which are part of the Gemstone notebook PC line which stress the company's new found attention to design.
Recently Acer's design team collaborated with BMW Group DesignworksUSA to study design trends...the result are supposedly in these notebook computers.
The Aspire 5920 is built on Acer's Empowering Technology (marketing speak to mean what, we don't know). It features a 15.4-inch high def wide screen display with CrystalBrite (more marketing speak), and for a complete HD experience, Dolby Home Theater Virtual Surround Sound. The machine will run on a 2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor with 2GB of RAM, a 256MB NVIDIA GeForce 8600M-GT Grpahics Engine, 160GB of hard disk space, a DVD Dual Layer Drive, integrated web cam, WiFi and Bluetooth..
Its slightly less expensive cousin, the 4710 is smaller at 14.1-inches. It also runs on a 2.0 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor and comes with 512MB RAM, 120GB HDD, a dual layer DVD drive, and WiFi. Graphics is just integrated into the Intel 945GM express Chipset however. It is also interesting to note that this unit comes pre loaded with Linux Basic Edition and not a version of Windows.
The Aspire 5920 and 4710 notebook PCs are available through Acer authorized resellers and selected retailers throughout North America, with pricing beginning at $1999 for the Aspire 5920 and $599 for the Aspire 4710
