800,000 iPhones 3G Per Week from FoxconnBy Chris - 08/04/2008 2:56:07 PM |

August 22nd is the day when 20 more countries will receive the iPhone 3G. Apple is doing the best they can to increase iPhone production and thus to avoid future shortages. I don’t think they will be able to do it but it’s good to know they are trying. Foxconn, their manufacturer has production way up. At current speed they are producing no less than 800,000 iPhones 3G per week. This is above full capacity so we might expect possible failures in the future.
At this rate Foxconn will be manufacturing 40 million handsets a year for Apple. Let’s see if that’s going to be enough. Generally speaking, about 1 billion handsets are sold each year with Nokia selling about 435 million of those.
