In Italy the 3G iPhone is coming too from Vodafone. But another mobile carrier, TIM is also going to offer the iPhone. As long as there’s competition we should see better offers coming from both of them.

Let’s check out Vodafone first. Like in Portugal, Vodafone will offer three different plans but we should get better prices and better data. The Easy Medium plan costs $93 per month and you get 400 minutes, 400 SMS messages and 600MB of data. The 8GB iPhone costs $312 and the 16GB version costs $422. The Special Edition plan costs $124 per month and it includes 250 minutes to other carriers, 250 text messages to other carriers and a whooping 7000 minutes to Vodafone subscribers along with 7000 SMS to Vodafone subscribers. The 8GB version costs $155 and the 16GB comes at $265. The Easy Large plan costs $155 per month and includes 900 minutes and SMS messages and 600MB of data. The iPhone costs $77 or $187 depending on what version you choose.

So how do you like that Special Edition plan? That seems to be worth all the money. And the data limitation is not as bad as in Portugal right? But let’s look at what TIM has prepared. TIM will have five different iPhone plans to choose from.

The cheapest version costs only $47 per month. You’re not going to get any minutes or SMS included but there’s 1GB data included. The iPhone will cost $312 or $422 depending on chosen version. The TIM 250 costs $78 per month and it includes 250 minutes, 100 SMS and 1GB of data traffic. The iPhone will cost $297 or $406.

The TIM 600 plan comes to $126 and it includes 600 minutes, 200 SMS messages and 1GB of data. With this choice you get the iPhone for $234 or $344. The TIM 900 plan is going to be a lot more expensive. At $173 per month you get 900 minutes, 200 SMS and 1GB of data with the iPhone selling at $155 or $265. The ultimate TIM plan is the TIM Unlimited plan. It comes at $314 per month and it includes 4500 minutes and 1200 text messages. The data traffic is raised at 5GB. Furthermore you get an extra 300 minutes and SMS messages to be used with 3 Italia wireless customers. The iPhone will come for free at 8GB or it will cost $109 for the 16GB.

We have some good offers from both TIM and Vodafone. I still have the impression that the cheapest plan versions are a little steep but they might really suit the average Italian.
