Apple and AT&T are doing their best to prevent iPhone exploitation by opportunists that wouldn’t mind trying to resell unlocked handsets for use in other networks. And don’t be surprised that happens. The iPhone gets more and more popularity so lots of people are trying to make a buck off it.

AT&T and Apple will be very strict about iPhone activation in order to avoid as much as possible future troubles. If you buy an iPhone at a subsidized price you will have 30 days to activate it in an AT&T or Apple store. If you fail to do so your credit card will be billed for the subsidy itself. All this should happen for online purchases of course and you will still be limited to 3 iPhones per person.

We’ll just have to wait and see if online purchase is available once the iPhone will be available on July 11th. In the mean time try not to buy any of those 3G iPhone tempting offers you find laying around eBay or Craigslist.
