Samsung has released two cellphones recently, with one of them being the Samsung S5150 that targets women as the main customers.

The Samsung S5150 Olivia is a clamshell type of phone that has a two displays: in the inside there is a 2.2.-inch QVGA display, and on the outside there is a screen that can display various details: battery status, date, and time.

In terms of technical features, the S5150 Olivia has a 3-megapixel camera, supports USB2.0 and EDGE/GPRS, and lastly we’ve got a slot for microSD memory cards.

Remember the Nokia 6600i that we mentioned over one year ago? More specifically on May 2009? Well, the Nokia handset has finally reached the Indian market and is available for purchase with a price tag of approximately $300.

The Nokia 6600i is a small yet very powerful slider cellphone because its features are pretty good, be it the accelerometer sensor, the stereo headset, the Nokia maps, or the 5-megapixel camera. Other goodies of the cellphone include a 2.2-inch TFT color screen, bluetooth 2.0, and a good combination of dimensions + weight: 93×45x14mm and 110 grams.

The Nokia 6600i is available in 2 colors: black and silver.

23 Nov 09 Motorola announces new device: Crush

Motorola has announced a new cellphone that marks the difference from the rest due to the user interface + design. The new device is named Motorola Crush and will be released later this year, with an unknown price at least for now.

The Motorola Crush is a touchscreen handset that boasts a 2.8-inch touchscreen with a resolution of 240×400. It comes with a 2-megapixel camera, supports 16GB microSD memory cards, bluetooth with A2DP, and lastly a 3.5mm socket for earphones.

Like said previously, what makes the Crush different from the rest is the design – the buttons are located on top of the screen, instead of being below like it usually happens. Another unusual detail is the “Tap To Silence” function which makes it easy to put the phone in silence mode just by a single tap.

23 Nov 09 AT&T introduces new DataConnect Pass plan

AT&T has introduced a new plan for people with laptops and smartphones that want to have access to the internet, but don’t have access to WiFi. This new plan is called DataConnect Pass and is very similar to the plan that Verizon launched a few days ago.

Anyhow, the DataConnect Pass is a prepaid broadband plan that costs $15 and provides 75MB of data transfer as a “day pass”. Other options include a weekly deal priced at $30 that offers 250MB, and for 500MB you’ll pay $50.

If none of this options please you, there is still a postpaid plan with 5GB of data that should probably be enough for all your needs, or not…

Remember the Motorola i410 that was seen at the FCC back in October? Well, there are good news for everyone that enjoyed the style and simple features of the device, because Boost Mobile has announced today that the Motorola i410 is available for purchase at their retail locations.

In case you are wondering, the i410 can be considered an entry-level clamshell type of cellphone and in terms of features it has GPE, bluetooth, and MMS, that is, in addition to the normal speakerphone function. The cellphone has dual-displays and besides the PTX features, it also boasts an Openwave WAP browser. Sadly there is no information about the price of the Motorla i410.

In order to sell more units during the Christmas season, T-Mobile has arranged quite a few promotions that affect different cellphones. The various discount sessions started a few days ago, and it will last until the 28th of December.

Promo #1 – from the 24th to the 26th of November, $50 off the Motorola Cliq + Samsung Highlight, and $25 off the Nokia 3711;
Promo #2 – from the 4th to the 6th of December, $25 off the Samsung Gravity II, $15 off the Nokia 2729, and lastsly $10 off the Nokia 5130;
Promo #3 – from the 18th to the 20th of December, $50 off the Samsung Comeback, and $10 off the Samsung t459 Gravity;
Promo #4 – from the 21st to the 24th of December, $50 off the Motorola Cliq;
Promo #5 – from the 26th to the 28th of December, $25 off the BlackBerry Curve 8520.

Obviously these discounts can only be applied for customers that opt for a new 2-year contract.

In addition to the color e-book readers with gaming controllers, Qualcomm is apparently working on FLO TV for the iPhone.

FLO TV Personal television just went on sale about a week ago, and is a personal television with six months of service included, and then $8.99 afterward. This FLO TV for iPhone apparently runs off of the iPhone for its reception, though. No word of when it will be out.

What you see here is the WebStation by Camangi. It runs off of Android 1.5 and has a seven inch glass touchscreen with 800 x 480 resolution. It has Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g and even a GPS.

It may not look like it could compete with Archos, but it certainly looks like a quality product. You should be able to get it for about $399.

If you’ve watched TV recently you may have noticed Verizon directly targeting the iPhone in their latest round of DROID campaigning. Well, for a while it went unanswered but today Apple has shown off 2 new commercials that seem to set their sights directly on Verizon.

Of course the commercial only lets us know that the iPhone can use data while during on a phone call but at the end they say, “Can your phone and your network do that?”. Let’s see how Verizon responds.

23 Nov 09 China Mobile confirms Dell Mini 3i specs, release window

Towards the middle of August a spec list for Dell’s latest smart phone, the Mini 3i, was leaked with little to no official confirmation regarding its validity.

Today, however, China Mobile has released a press release stating the same exact specs (included below) along with the fact that it will be hitting the service sometime later this month.

  • 3.5″ 640×360 touchscreen LCD
  • OTA
  • Microsoft Exchange
  • Google, AIM, Yahoo, MSN

Imation has just begun sales of the Wireless HD ProWX. This is a 1.5 TB hard drive that can connect to a PC or Mac via wireless USB. It includes a wireless USB dongle, and has a range of 30 feet to connect automatically with a transfer rate of 15 Mbps.

The cost is pretty high at $450, but I believe it is the first wireless USB hard drive. Will it be the last?

Apple created an in-app purchase over a month ago, and now Urbian, a Shanghai-based mobile technology company, has enabled the first Android app with in-app purchase.

The app is called Ringz, and it is a puzzle game that allows you to download more levels. I haven’t tried the game yet, but I can’t help but think that something like this could be the next Bejeweled.

Last week, Apple announced a new Amidio iPhone app called TouchDJ, which allows users to play two MP3s side by side for some serious real-time manipulation and playback.

It features a crossfader, individual volume controls, equalization, as well as other effects. Unfortunately, it will not play songs directly from iTunes, and it takes up quite a lot of processing power.

23 Nov 09 Seesmic mobile app now available for Android and BlackBerry

Some of you might be familiar with Seesmic, which is “designed to easily manage and build your community directly in your browser”. It will also process messages in an email-like interface, view and add to your Twitter lists and save searches synced with Twitter. This app is now available for Android and BlackBerry.

The Android app allows users to “share photos with your choice of image service, post videos to YouTube, share links connected with your Bit.ly account, fully configure your notifications and view your Direct Messages in a simple threaded view”.

As for the BlackBerry, it can provide the user with “ability view your friend’s status updates in an interface that is familiar and inspired by BlackBerry’s own native applications”.
