Samsung m850 Dash has a protective screen cover

|

Being hailed as the "true" successor to the Samsung Instinct instead of the S30, the m850 Dash is yet to give us an official peek, but that's not stopping Zagg from spewing out a few protective covers for it under its invisibleSHIELD brand. While the scratch-proof, military-grade protective film will be great, what we are more interested in is how the Dash looks, which is evident by the picture they have put up to show off their wares. So, how do you like it? We still have no information on its specs though it would be safe to assume a touchscreen HVGA display and support for Sprint's CDMA and EVDO networks. The Samsung m850 Dash is scheduled for a summer release, provided Sprint doesn't have a change of heart to move it further.

Nokia 2720 Fold Cell Phone

|

Like the 2730 Classic, the Nokia 2720 Fold is also an affordable low-ender that packs the same punch in a flip phone form factor. The handset has 3G support and has a host of other business applications to go with it, including email support, calendar, and filesharing capabilities. Email can supposedly be activated in three simple steps and Nokia Life Tools makes an appearance here too. If you are looking for a great-looking cell phone without the heavy price tag, the Nokia 2720 Fold fits the bill in that aspect too, with its mirror finish and its stylish clamshell design. Look for it drop in the third quarter of 2009 at a throwaway price of 55 Euros ($74).

Nokia 2730 Classic Phone

|

Nokia has announced three new "3G-ready" devices out of the blue aimed directly at emerging markets. First up is the Nokia 2730 Classic, a candybar that's bound to become as popular as the 6700. And with its 3G capability and a drop-dead price of 80 Euros ($108), this definitely would be a sought-after device when released in the third quarter of 2009. The 2730 Classic also supports Nokia Life Tools and Ovi Mail, two services from Nokia which hope to gain a wider market share in emerging nations. That's all the specs we have on this low-end star for now, but stay tuned as we will get you more.

Nokia 7020 Phone

|

While the 2730 Classic and the 2720 Fold both look great, the Nokia 7020 would definitely turn to be something that the ladies will end up liking more than the other two. Reminiscent of the Supernova series from Nokia, the 7020 clamshell is a fashion phone that makes use of light, metal, and color to enhance your style points. There's a 2-megapixel camera for some casual pictures along with a bright display (internal) to view them on. The external display has a special "stardust" animation which plays up everytime you get a call and tapping the cover twice lights up the external display to show you time and important information about your cell phone. We presume this is 3G ready too as the other two devices, but we will let you know when we know. Available in the fourth quarter of 2009 for 90 Euros ($121).

Samsung's first Android phone, the i7500, has been approved by the FCC so we'll be expecting it to arrive soon from T-Mobile. Unfortunately if we are to listen to recent rumors soon translates into at least four months of waiting since the phone will only be available in November. Motorola's New W7 Active Edition

|

[caption id="attachment_30595" align="alignleft" width="207" caption="W7 Active Edition"]W7 Active Edition[/caption]

As the name implies, Motorola's new w7 Active Edition slider is aimed at those sporty types, with its built-in pedometer and personal trainer application. It appears that Moto is jumping on the accelerometer bandwagon with this phone since users can control functions on the phone with simple hand gestures:

Shake up your everyday phone experience by controlling MOTO W7 using simple hand gestures, taps and flicks. Flip the phone over to silence the ringer of an incoming call, snooze the alarm clock or pause the music. Shake twice to instantly launch your favorite application, such as the music player. When showing off your photo albums or music libraries, flick the phone right or left to move between songs and images.

The Moto W7 also features a 2.0 megapixel camera and it runs on a 3G network. It appears that only customers in Latin America and Asia will be able to use this in the foreseeable future.

Nokia E71i to get a 5mpx camera

|

If you thought the Nokia E71 (or even the E71x) deserved a business suit every time you had to carry around, pretty soon, the addition of a 5-megapixel lens on this work-oriented smartphone will definitely change your mindset. Dubbed the E71i this time, this Nokia device will get a much-needed bump up to a 5mpx lens from the 3.2 megapixel shooter that the current versions have, in turn bringing in more consumers who had previously stayed away from the E71 for the sole reason of an under-powered camera. We have already seen many 8mpx and 12 mpx cameraphones, but with a 5-megapixel lens, Nokia isn't jumping too high and ends up maintaining the dignity that Eseries devices demand. The Symbian OS will also be updated to Feature Pack 2, just like the E71x released recently, and the handset will be available only in shades of mocha brown. Rumors point to a E71i release as early as September with the Nokia World event scheduled for the same month or as late as October, so stay tuned and we will get more on this as it transpires.

Samsung Tocco Lite Available in the UK This May

|

UK customers will be able to choose a new Samsung phone this May. The Tocco Lite is a touchscreen phone which doesn't have any 3G support. That's a weird combination but the whole 3G-less feature will make people change their minds about buying one.

Nevertheless the Tocco Lite or the Samsung S5230 will offer you the following:

  • Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE connectivity

  • 3 inch TFT touchscreen display with 262K color and 240 x 400 pixels

  • TouchWiz UI

  • Accelerometer

  • Facebook, MySpace and YouTube widgets

  • Bluetooth 2.1

  • Samsung DNSe 2.0 music technology

  • FM Radio with RDS

  • 3.2 MP camera

  • 50 MB of built-in memory

  • microSD card support, up to 8 GB

  • 104 x 53 x 11.9 mm

All we need now are some prices and we expect the Tocco Lite to be available for a great price since it lacks that important 3G support.

LG KX500 Is Actually a Cookie in CDMA Clothes

|

LG's Cookie phone has been sold in large numbers so far so it's not surprising that LG wants to sell even more. In order to do that, LG has created a CDMA version of the Cookie, the KX500 which is made for the Asian market. The phone will have support for CDMA2000 1x connectivity besides the usual features that are already available for the Cookie. The phone will sell for $276 in the Asia-Pacific region but it might cost even less should you get it from a carrier with a new contract. The CDMA Cookie is compatible with Sprint and Verizon's networks so bringing the CDMA version LG Cookie to the USA seems quite possible and I bet some people are already anxious about it.
