LG Lollipop released in Korea

|

With a name like Lollipop, it's pretty obvious which segment of the moblie phone users LG is targeting, but the LG Lollipop, which comes in three models of SV800, KH8000, and LH8000, is no kid when it comes to specs. The clamshell is fully capable of handling HSDPA and can make video calls with a 1.3 megapixel camera on the inside just for those occasions. There is also a 3-megapixel camera on the outside to capture those funny moments and microSD support to house that ever-growing folder of pictures and videos. Measuring a thin 106.5 x 51.5 x 13.4 mm, the Lollipop also has an expansive 2.8 inch TFT display and a media player to while away those times of boredom in class.

The LG Lollipop will start selling this month in South Korea and will be available from all major Korean carriers in enticing colors of Cutie Pink, Boyish Titanium, and Aqua Blue at an undisclosed price.

Acer F1 smartphone to be powered by Snapdragon CPU

|

Along with some Windows Mobile 6.5 hotness, we now have news that the upcoming Acer F1 smartphone will be powered by the blazing fast Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU. But unlike the Toshiba TG01 which tops out at 1GHz, the F1 will be limited to a 800 MHz, which although low by computer standards, should be enough horsepower to run a cell phone without a hitch. As we said already, the handset will be running Windows Mobile 6.5 with Acer's homebrewn Acer Suite 2.0 UI akin to HTC's TouchFLO 3D and the same could hold true for the Acer E1 and L1, which will also purportedly run WM6.5.

According to AllAboutPhones who got to spend some quality time with the F1 recently at an Acer event, we might actually see a release date as early as September, so we won't have to wait too long to get our hands on this quick fella.

Nothing that impressive so far right? We have no idea when the phone will be available and for how much and it's likely that we won't feel any kind of excitement over this phone. What do you think?

LG Arena Gets Approved by the FCC

|

The LG Arena, that flagship phone we've seen launched a while ago, has cleared through the FCC. More than one million units have been pre-ordered already in Europe and Asia while the North American market has been left wanting. The KM900 didn't have any support for that North American HSPA but luckily all that has been changed. According to the FCC, the KM900QA will be ready to suit the needs of U.S. customers, having support for 850 and 1900 MHz HSPA bands. So are you going to order an Arena soon? Anxious of playing with that new S-Class 3D interface?

BlackBerry 9630 Niagara Gets a Video

|

The BlackBerry 9630 Niagara is the next hot Berry out there and everyone is talking about it. The video clip above is nearly not long enough to describe all its features but it's a start. The phone is scheduled to arrive later this year from Verizon Wireless and we're probably going to see it arrive around the world from other carriers too. What do you think so far? What's the hottest BlackBerry phone for you? The Niagara? The Storm? The Bold?

BenQ Royal Wins Award for Design

|

BenQ handsets are not that popular as BenQ wishes but they still do win awards. The company has just unveiled a new smartphone that won the iF Product Design Award 2009. A little early for a phone to win an award for the whole 2009, but we're going to give it the benefit of the doubt.

The Royal is a candybar which is said to be "a smart phone with powerful functions including a personalized interface and internet live messenger to make both mobility and communication easier". The phone comes with a touch-sensitive area behind the main screen which will let you turn ebook pages and browse photo and music files. We don't have all the details yet and there's no info on pricing and availability dates. Would you be interested in the Royal?

The Samsung MBP200 pico projector phone might be the handset you've been waiting for. It was announced a while ago and it finally has a price and a released date. The phone will be ready to ship in May and it will cost you around $637. Unfortunately it will arrive only in selected European markets for now. The other bad boy, the Samsung Snow or the i7410 will arrive this summer and we're still hunting for that price. Which one would you choose?

LG KM900 Arena launched in Europe

|

With preorders already crossing the 1 million mark, LG's Arena could already be termed as a success in the footsteps of other LG superstars like the Chocolate and the Shine. The KM900 was first spotted at MWC 2009 and the Korean manufacturer seems to have lost no time in releasing it barely a month after its first appearance. It's the Europeans this time around who have the first chance to experience its expansive 3.0 WVGA touchscreen display that can handle DivX videos with aplomb, the cool 3D S-Class user interface, 8GB of internal memory with further expansion up to 40GB via microSD, its auto/manual focus 5-megapixel camera, Bluetooth, and watch their favorite online videos at 3G speeds or on a WiFi connection.

The LG Arena is available now across major European markets at an undisclosed price in choices of silver and black titanium colors.

iPhone 3.0 Firmware Features Unveiled

|

Yes folks, it's that time of the year. Apple has a brand new iPhone firmware, version 3.0 which is filled with features. All we need now is a new iPhone version. Let's take a look at those new features then!

Copy/Cut & Paste is here. Double-tap on any piece of text and you will get a cut, copy and paste bubble dialog. Double-tap again and a paste bubble will appear if there's anything in the clipboard. The application is available for copy and pasting photos too.

The landscape keyboard is also official. You can write anything you want in landscape now.

Peer-to-peer WiFi connectivity will allow two iPhones to connect directly without the need of an actual WiFi network.

A new API will let you use your iPhone or iPod touch to control peripherals. Maps will be used inside other applications as Maps is now an API. Turn by turn directions will also be available. Developers will be able to create turn-by-turn applications using the iPhone GPS and combining it with any maps without actually needing a 3G connectivity or Google.

iPhone 3.0 will also bring us that much needed push notification. Voice over IP and voice communication will be used in any application starting with this iPhone OS. Auto recording will be possible and accessing music from applications will also be now available.

As for the App Store, the new OS will bring new possibilities too. You'll be able to subscribe to apps, purchase additional content for apps or additional levels for games.

What do you think? Happy with all these new features?

Motorola A455 Rival and QA4 Evoke specs revealed

|

We got you the pictures. Now we get you something to chew on before the official announcement from Motorola. Looks like the Motorola A455 is just another middle order CDMA handset with a QWERTY keypad added in, making it more of a mid-range messaging device more than anything else. The previously used moniker of RUSH2 is dropped in favor of "Rival," which sounds pretty absurd when it looks it won't be competing with any other handset in particular. Other tidbits leaked include dual-band CDMA support with EV-DO Rev A., stereo Bluetooth, a paltry 2-megapixel camera, microSD/SDHC support, an mp3 player with a a 3.5 mm headphone jack, and USB 2.0 connectivity.

The Evoke QA4, in spite of having a somewhat spacious touchscreen display, is a sleek slider falls into the same category as the Rival, and fails to evoke much enthusiasm in us. Features are somewhat analogous to the A455 and include a 2mpx camera, microSD/SDHC support, mp3 player, Bluetooth with A2DP, and voice recognition capability.

No info on a release date or pricing could be found, but as always, we will keep you posted when that happens.

Motorola Announces MC5590 and MC5574 Cellphones

|

With phones like these two Motorola will slowly disappear from the face of the cellphones business. Sure we need rugged phones but they could always look better than these two. The MC5590 and the MC5574 have been just announced by Motorola. They are business-oriented smartphones. But where would you have to work in order to get such a device? The North Pole? Are the phones made for those busy elves? The phones are going to arrive in Q2 so we might have an answer to those questions by then. No pricing details for now, but would you really buy any of those? And by the way, where are all those hot Moto phones we've seen back in December?
