Nokia N85 Mobile Phone to hit stores in October

|

Along with announcements of the Nokia N96 and Nokia N79, the folks over at Espoo also unleashed the new Nokia N85 multimedia computer featuring a 2.6 inch, battery-saving OLED display. The feature set is pretty similar to the N79, including the integrated FM transmitter, 5 megapixel camera, HSDPA and Wi-Fi support as well as 10 pre-loaded N-Gage games.

Where it differs is in its dual slider design and of course the display technology. When the phone is in landscape mode, the gaming keys light up for an enhanced experience. The camera on this baby can shoot videos at 30 fps - which you can store on the included 8GB microSD memory card.

The N85 features a standard 3.5mm audio jack and, with the built-in FM transmitter, you can play your music through your car or home stereo.

The Nokia N85 will be available starting October 2008 for &eur;450 before taxes and subsidies.

Nokia N79 Mobile Phone

|

Nokia added yet another phone to their growing N-series portfolio. The new Nokia N79, like many of the other phones, is a multimedia computer. With integrated navigation, FM transmitter and HSDPA connectivity, the phone comes pre-loaded with 10 N-Gage games. You also get a 5 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics.

The N79 features Xpress-on covers that let you customize the phone to your tastes, with the following colors being available: Light Sea Blue, Espresso Brown, Olive Green, White and Coral Red. With the phone, you get a combo of 3 of these covers. Along with HSDPA, the phone also supports Wi-Fi for times when you don't want to incur data charges.

There's built-in support for various social networks like Friendster, Flickr, YouTube as well as integration with the Nokia Music Store and Ovi. The camera on the phone also comes with dual LED flash, and you can save images on the bundled 4GB microSD memory card.

Expect the phone in October 2008 retailing at &eur;350 before taxes and subsidies.

Nokia N96 to reach American shores in Q4 2008

|

One of the hot phones of the year, the Nokia N96, will finally arrive at the American shores in Q4 of 2008. The N96 was introduced to us in the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona and will be targeted at 3G/HSDPA networks. Featuring a 2.8 inch screen, the phone will come with 16 gigs of memory in a sleek package.

Touted as an entertainment phone, it supports a range of video formats (including Windows Media) along with integration with popular video download services, allowing you to purchase, download and play TV shows and movies right on the phone. It features a convenient kick stand for handsfree viewing.

The Nokia N96 also boasts an impressive 5 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics, Wi-Fi support and A-GPS (assisted GPS) navigation. Obviously it is integrated with Ovi services as well. A 3-month navigation service for Nokia Maps 2.0 is bundled with the phone.

Priced at US $895, the Nokia N96 will be available in Q4 2008.

MID Anyone? Archos 5 or Archos 7?

|

Archos launched two MID, the Archos 5 and the Archos 7. The difference between them is about two inch and a few GB of storage. Can I make any phone calls with those? It would be just too good wouldn't it.

Archos 5 is a 5 inch touchscreen MID which will get you some internet connection when you need it most. The web browser is flash compatible and it will use 3G and 3.5G connections where available. There's WiFi connectivity too, and three memory options. Depending on how many songs and videos you want to carry with you, you can choose the 60GB version for $350, the 120GB version for $400 or the $250 version for $450.

The Archos 7 (in the picture above) has a 7 inch touchscreen MID. This baby will sport the same features but it will come in two versions. Either the 160GB for $450 or the 320GB for $550.

Who need an Eee if we have these MID available?

Sony W350a Walkman for AT&T

|

Since not everybody would be vying for a piece of Apple cake from AT&T, the carrier has added one more mobile phone to its ever-growing portfolio of Walkman phones. This time, it's the Sony Ericsson W350a, the Americanized version of the January-announced W350. Our jaded eyes fail to see anything special with this one as we could only find a 1.3-megapixel camera, FM radio, Bluetooth, and an M2 slot behind it's controls-laden flap. AT&T seems to think so too and is willing to offer the phone for free with service. Available in enticing hues of ice blue, electric black, and white.

Sanyo Katana Eclipse finally makes it to Sprint

|

Sharp as its name suggests in features, the Sanyo Katana has finally landed in front of Sprint's doors. Customers can now enjoy the Katana Eclipse's dazzling lighting effects and Sprint's high-speed broadband network for just $100. Users can assign 40 different illuminations for the numbers in their 500-entry phone book and this Sanyo clamshell will light up just the way they like when that person calls or messages them. The lighting aside, the Sanyo Katana is also capable of turn-by-turn GPS navigation, has dedicated music controls, and supports Sprint Radio for up to 150 channels. Along with other features like Bluetooth and microSHDC support for up to 8GB, it also sports an internal 2-inch 65k color TFT LCD display and an external 1-incher for quick access to the media player or a glimpse of who's calling. The 1.3-megapixel camera is in no way a digicam replacement but it should be enough for those situations when the urge to capture something is overwhelming.

Available now on Sprint for $99.99 with a two-year contract.

FCC Leaks the New PSP-3001

|

Thanks to the FCC we get all sorts of leaks. This time it isn't a phone but a gaming console. The PSP-3001 has arrived at the FCC.

People said the PSP-3001 will get GPS, WiFi 802.11n, Bluetooth and a microphone but none of those have been spotted in the FCC report. And although we've heard about a rumored PSP phone in the past, this isn't a phone either. It's just a simple game console taken to the next level.

Samsung Tocco From T-Mobile

|

T-Mobile is getting ready to launch the Samsung F480 Tocco in the near future. While there's no info on pricing and availability yet we know it's going to be quite a phone. And it's a 3G handset which will definitely come in handy if you're under T-Mobile 3G coverage. There's GPS, a 5 megapixel camera, but no front camera for video calls.

So if you don't want to get involved with Sprint for an Instinct or you're tired of waiting for the Omnia to arrive on US soil, then check with your T-Mobile representative for more info about the Tocco or the T919, whatever they're going to call it!

Motorola V70 Retro Leaked

|

We have another leaked phone here and this time is the Motorola V70 Retro? Like what you see? Didn't think so.

The V70 Retro, meant to make us remember the original V70 will come with a 5 megapixel camera and that's about all we know. The design doesn't seem to bring anything new to the table, but I'd expect some better features. While the original V70 was priced at around $400, the current Retro doesn't have a price yet.

Palm Treo Pro Pictures Leaked

|

Is this the new Treo that Palm is getting ready for 2009? They have been plans for the upcoming year, but if they want to sell those phones they ordered, they need some good handsets.

This is the Treo Pro, supposed to work on Windows Mobile. So there's no Palm OS for now. The flash presentation was taken down from Palm's site leaving us wanting for more. We need specs, prices and launch date. In the mean time enjoy the screens!

Sony Ericsson T700 promo leaked

|

The T700 looked good in pictures and Sony Ericsson has a clip to prove it looks good on video too. SEMC Blog was able to get its grubby paws on a promotional clip for the long due T610 upgrade and from the video, the T700 sure looks poised to ride on its own wave of success like the T610. We know it doesn't have any special powers like some of its other siblings but a 3.2 megapixel camera, a 2-inch display, Bluetooth, HSDPA support, and M2 expansion should sound better than what the T610 fans asked for. No pricing or availability information has been unearthed yet, but count on us to keep you in the loop!

palmtreopro.jpg
Earlier today, we posted several leaked photos of the Palm Treo Pro. Well, less than a day later live shots of the phone have hit the web.

As you can see above the Palm Treo Pro is an extremely sleek looking phone running none other than Windows Mobile. But what do we know so far in regards to it's specs?

  • 400MHz Processor
  • 256MB ROM, 128 MB RAM
  • 320x320 Display
  • GPS
  • Tri-Band 3G, Quad-Band GSM
  • 2MP Camera
  • Mini USB Port
  • 3.5mm Headphone Port
  • 1500mah Battery

While none of these specs are completely out of this world, the pure usability of the Treo line, coupled with Windows Mobile could make for a great phone when this thing actually hits the market.

Bell to Launch Sanyo Katana Eclipse

|

Bell is going to launch the Sanyo Katana Eclipse for their Canadian subscribers. The handset will sell for $49.95. The trick is that you would have to sign a 3 year contract for that price. A 2 year contract means you have to pay $99.99 for the handset while a more simpler 1 year contract will get you a $224.95 price for the Sanyo.

Those of you that want the Sanyo without any kind of commitments will get it for about $274.95. I know it seems a lot for the Katana Eclipse but hey, you won't be getting yourself into any agreement you don't want.

Sprint
customers you'll have to wait for the US release!

Sprint's BlackBerry Curve to get GPS and WiFi

|

Wow, that's like so cool! It is said that Sprint's Blackberry Curve will get GPS and WiFi all into one. It's kind of a special offer which they will simply name the 8350i. Probably RIM will name it and Sprint will sell it. Well I guess at first it was really a mind boggling problem to fit the GPS and the WiFi antenna inside the precious Curve. And now it's all fixed.

I am guessing that's going to happen sometime soon with Sprint and other carriers will follow. After all why buy a Curve with only one of the must have features when you can get them both now?

HP Introduces New EliteBooks: the 8730w, 8530w and 8530p

|

HP is ready for some serious notebook action with its new EliteBooks. Three new models are available, the 8730w, 8530w and 8530p.

HP EliteBook 8730w is apparently the only 17 inch laptop on the market to ofer HP DreamColor Display. While regular machines offer about 260,000 colors, the DreamColor thing will get you a little more, 16 million colors. Besides the amazing display, the 8730w will get a true Intel quad-core processor, 8GB of RAM and the Nvidia Quadro FX graphics card with 1GB video memory.

The 8530w and the 8530p both have the DreamColor display. They are 15.4 inch laptops with Intel Core 2 Duo processors and about 8GB of RAM. Version 8530w will also support a quad-core mobile processor.

The EliteBook 8730w is arriving later this month for prices starting from $1,699 while the two 15 inch laptops are coming over in September from $1,499.

Motorola Alexander Has a Brother, the Atila

|

So we've seen the Alexander from Motorola last week and now we discover it has an almost twin brother. Well not a similar twin brother in any case as the Atila (that's Alexander's brother's name) lacks the full QWERTY keyboard.

Besides that, the Atila will be the first Motorola handset with tri-band UMTS/HSDPA. Hooray for that. Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE, 7.2Mbps HSDPA, 1.8Mbps HSUPA, 2.8 inch QVGA 240x320 screen WiFi b/g and Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional are already included.

So let's see when Atila and Alexander get released and which one will be more expensive. Any bets?

T-Mobile launches Nokia XpressMusic 5610

|

T-Mobile has announced the availability of the Nokia XpressMusic 5610 on their network. The latest in the XpressMusic line from the Finnish manufacturer isn't exactly new, given that it has been available in other markets since October, but this should be the first time it's officially appearing on the American scene. This 5310 upgrade has all the features that the XpressMusic 5310 was liked for and adds a bit more to the same slider form factor, albeit shedding a bit of weight in the process. Keeping in mind that music is its forte, the XpressMusic 5610 carries over everything from the 5310 including dedicated music controls and adds an innovative "music slider" located below the 2.2-inch TFT display for quick access to music player and radio. The camera has also been bettered to a 3.2-megapixel lens from 2-mpx lamer on the 5310 along with dual-LED flash and 20MB internal memory with further expansion via microSD slot (1GB card included in the package). The battery can last for up to an impressive 22 hours of music playback, 6 hours of talktime, and 320 hours in standby mode. The only thing missing is 3G, with speeds topping out at EDGE, but that shouldn't stop any music lover if they are really inclined to get one of these. Available on T-Mobile now for $99 on a two-year contract in colors of black with red lining and white with silver.
