Fractus is a Spanish company which you haven’t really gotten to know so far. Now it’s time for it’s moment of glory! Fractus has decided to sue not one, not two, but ten mobile phone manufacturers which apparently have infringed not one, not two, but nine different patents which concern internal antennas.
These manufacturers are: Samsung, LG Electronics, Research In Motion, HTC, Palm, Pantech, Sharp, Kyocera, Sanyo and UTStarcom. And Fractus is a company which holds more than 80 patents worldwide, 30 of them right in the United States. The suit was filed in the USA and we’ll just have to wait and see what happens next. Fractus’s inventions have added tremendous value to both the cell phone user and manufacturer.

[...] few new Apple patents revealed new interesting applications ready for the iPhone. The patent reveals features like object identification, face recognition and a couple of messaging tweaks. [...]
The purpose of a Patent is to allow an inventor to profit from their invention, not to camp on an idea like a Troll under a bridge.
This leads to the question: What did Fractus do with this idea? Or, to put it another way, Is Fractus an innovator or a Patent Troll?
I, for one, would like to see more innovation and less litigation.
